Oscar-winning actress and green mama Angelina Jolie gave birth to son Knox Leon and daughter Vivienne Marcheline by caesarean section at the Lenval hospital on the glamorous Promenade des Anglais in the Cote D’Azur town of Nice on Saturday.
Baby girl Vivienne Marcheline weighed 2.27 kg (5 lbs) and baby boy Knox Leon weighed 2.28 kg.
Brad Pitt and Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi signed the birth certificates. Marcheline was the first name of Jolie’s mother, also an actress, who died of cancer last year.
According to Reuters, the doctor who delivered Angelina Jolie’s babies via cesarean section said happy father Brad Pitt was “perfectly calm” during the operation and that the couple were “an exemplary father and mother.
“People of great simplicity, of great kindness since she is a patient who was totally obedient, very calm, very kind,” Dr. Michel Sussmann added. He said the Caesarean was moved forward from its originally planned date “for medical reasons” so that the babies could be born “in the best conditions.”
He said Jolie is expected to stay in the hospital for a few more days
Nice newspapers reported that Pitt-Jolie couple sold exclusive rights to the first photographs of the twins to an unnamed U.S. magazine for $11 million and would give the money to charity.
